The project finished with a look back over the 12 sessions of the Poppy project in Trafford, held in Partington and Old Trafford libraries.
The workshops in Trafford have covered craft based activity with illuminated paper making and also writing and music, with two films being produced about the work by Janet and Sophie. Through looking at conscientious objectors in the First World War we’d reflected on what it means for us, in our own lives, to stand up for what we believe in and go against the crowd.
We talked about how the group felt, taking part. The feedback was extremely positive. 50% of the group had never taken part in an art activity before and really enjoyed the breadth of activities we’d covered. Highlights included the trip to the Imperial War Museum and seeing the work come together for the Poppy Picnic at Ordsall Hall.
